Food and Nutrition
We believe that it is important to install a healthy eating attitude in our children. A balanced diet is particularly important for young children as early food experiences will impact on eating patterns and habits in their adult life. At Annabel’s we provide a daily snack for your children, and you also have the choice of joining our school lunch programme or bring a packed lunch from home which we refrigerate, heat and serve for your child’s lunch. Some children are very fussy eaters and we understand that this can be a challenge as a parent. We work with our children and encourage them to try new things and often find that if their friends are eating the same dish and enjoying it, our fussy eaters begin to take risks in widening their food choices.
We have been working with Radiance Wholefoods over the last year to improve our menu and also to look at the quality of the ingredients that we put into our dishes.
We have made small changes like using healthier oils, sea salt instead of iodised and bigger changes like widening the choices on the menu, exposing children to more vegetable choices, also the way in which food is cooked and served.
This has all made a very positive impact on the quality of our menu, and we will continue to make improvements and try new recipes every month to ensure our students have an interesting and varied menu.
